This winter brought our annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s—a unique way for us to support a cause near and dear to the hearts of our residents, families, and team members.

We were also excited to spend time around the Christmas tree, eat delicious holiday meals, and even spend some time with our four-legged friends!

Read all about these stories and more in our Winter 2023-2024 Newsletter.

2019 STAR Award Nominee

The Annual CSM STAR Awards Program (presented by our management firm) was designed to recognize the most outstanding employees from their senior living communities across the state. Standing for “Special Thanks And Recognition,” this program highlights the best employees in the company.  Each community, including Our Lady of Perpetual Help, nominates one deserving team member to be awarded this honor.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help’s 2019 nominee was Casey Porter, the LPN Unit Coordinator of the Nursing Center. She was recognized at a special luncheon presented by CSM for all STAR nominees.

According to co-workers, Casey is very motivated! On her nomination form, co-workers stated, “she exhibits a positive attitude and works diligently to assist others. Casey’s work ethics exemplify her integrity.  She maintains a professional attitude and presence at all times. She keeps the residents’ safety at the forefront of her priorities. She is always looking for opportunities to advance her education.”

Casey is currently in school working on her RN license.

Congratulations to Casey for achieving this special honor!

New Mini-Bus Ribbon Cutting

Have you seen our brand-new mini-bus driving around Virginia Beach? Residents and staff recently celebrated the arrival of the handicapped-accessible vehicle with a ribbon-cutting just outside the front doors of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Residents had the opportunity to “tour” the new bus and select their favorite seat for its maiden drive down Princess Anne Road.

The OLPH bus not only takes residents to doctor’s appointments but it is an important piece of the Activities Department, with residents enjoying scenic joyrides, shopping trips, and Lunch Bunch outings to local restaurants. Our van driver, George, said, “I am thrilled to have a new bus and the residents are greatly enjoying all the new amenities it offers!”
